Years ago I bought an album by Glen Phillips called "Winter Pays for Summer." I had heard some tracks from the album come on to my Pandora station, and the tracks were so good. I had to pick up the album. The album is great from start to finish. That's led me to Glen's other albums. All of which are filled with great song after song. Today's song of the day is off of his first solo studio album "Abulum." Just a great track. Check out "Professional Victim."

Song of the day.... Pink Floyd with "Speak To Me/Breathe"
The Dark Side of the Moon album is amazing in every possible way. I'm not sure why none of their songs off of it haven't been on my song of the day blog yet, but it is certainly due. This track is the opening number off of the album. Such a great song. The opening is all of these speaking parts and all of these different effects. It's just a great opening to this record. Some amazing production work on this record. Then "Breathe" kicks in and it's just this great mellow opener to the album. Guitars lacquered in reverb, and this beautiful slide guitar part. It's just this wonderfully magical opening to a great album.
So, check out Pink Floyd with "Speak To Me/Breathe."

Song of the day.... The Cardigans with "Lovefool"
There were so many great bands in the '90's that I was into. I always thought that The Cardigans were a pretty strong band. I mean they didn't have the same affect on me as other bands of that era did, but they really had some decent songwriting. I really dig the Guitar and Bass stuff that is going on during this track. Now, it was vastly overplayed on radio, and I think that kind of got it a bad rap... It's actually a really clever track. I probably have more respect for it now than I did back in the day. So, check out The Cardigans with "Lovefool."

Song of the day.........Eagle-Eye Cherry with "Save Tonight"
Today's song of the day is from Eagle-Eye Cherry. To be honest, I'm not sure if I've heard any other tracks by this gentleman, but I heard this track pretty frequently back in the late '90's. It's a pretty decent track. So, check out today's song of the day. Eagle-Eye Cherry with "Save Tonight."

Song of the day........ Weezer with "The World Has Turned And Left Me Here"
The "Blue Album" has by Weezer has to be one of the best albums of the '90's, but if you've only heard the songs that made it to radio you are really missing out. Some of this albums bests tracks in my opinion are the ones that you've probably never heard. One of those is this great track "The World Has Turned And Left Me Here." It pretty much rocks right out of the gate. The vocal harmonies on this track are really good, and compliments the song the whole way through. In particular that pre-chorus guitar riff and the vocals that go along with it are just magical. Just a great all around track from Weezer.

Song of the day...... Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds with "Gravedigger"
I really dig these acoustic tracks with Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds. The two really compliment each other quite well, and have created some really amazing musical moments. Many of these are evidenced in the Live at Radio City album. One of my faves off of that album is this song "Gravedigger." Just some amazing guitar work going on here... So, check out "Gravedigger."

Song of the day.........Rancid with "Time Bomb"
The '90's was an amazing period for music. I was so fixated on the Seattle scene that I missed out on some really great tracks that were being put out by bands on the outskirts of the Seattle scene. Case and point with this band Rancid. I was familiar with some of the radio tracks, but not some of the deeper cuts. I am discovering that "...And Out Come The Wolves" is just a really great work of music. There are some really great tracks on this album. Today's song of the day though is one of the tracks that was pretty well played on the radio in the '90's. It's this track "Time Bomb." I like Punk music, and at times I like Ska music. Rancid's sound is described by many as Ska Punk. You can hear a pretty good mix of both genres in this track. It's one of my faves from Rancid. Enjoy "Time Bomb."
