I remember seeing Black Rebel Motorcycle after their debut album was released. Saw them open up for the Dandy Warhols, and then saw them a few months later at this little bar "Lion's Lair" in Denver. Just a great band. Playing rock music that sounds very retro. Sounds like some of the early stuff from the Stones...... Today's song of the day is a track off of their second album "Howl." This one's called "Complicated Situation."

I think I appreciate this band now more than I did in the '90's.....Always kind of liked their music, but had more appreciation for them when they released the "Load" album. That had some different things going on with it that really sounded great....... That kind of got me into some of their older stuff including the black album....... Here's one of the hits off of that album.

This is one of my favorite songs from the last five years..... This guy that I used to work made a mix-CD that we always used to listen to at work, and this was one of the tracks that was on it. The first time I heard it I just thought that it was amazing. I still listen to it and love all the parts of it...... Just a great pop rock song.... Check out this song from Metric....

This may be my favorite opening song to any album that I own to be honest. It's just so absolutely beautiful!! The way that the song builds.....Everything just sounds so good. You can hear each individual instrument and they each contribute to make this beautiful piece of music. The entire "Sky Blue Sky" album is fantastic, but it starts with this great tune. Check it out.....

Song of the day............Cake with "Frank Sinatra"

This is one of my favorite tracks from Cake's "Fashion Nugget" album. I just love the trumpet, and lead guitar parts in this. Just really well done. The video for today's song of the day comes from one of the Late Show with David Letterman concerts. He has done a lot of online concerts when bands come to play on the late show, and there are a bunch of them on Youtube. Some really great performances.........this one is no different.
