Song of the day........Cage The Elephant with "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked"

Today's song of the day is from Cage the Elephant who honestly remind me a lot of The Stooges.... This is the song that really propelled them onto Rock radio. Just a great song with some really good guitar parts....Check out "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked."

Song of the day.........A Perfect Circle with "The Hollow"

I must admit I have not purchased any of A Perfect Circle's albums, but it is quite clear that I need to. I've heard a couple of singles, and have purchased some singles through iTunes, but I really need to go pick up an album by these guys. I recently heard "The Hollow" come on my Pandora station and really thought it was a great song. Really love the guitar effects being used, and the song structure.....Yep, I need to get some of their stuff. Check out "The Hollow."

Song of the day.......Nine Inch Nails with "March of the Pigs"

I believe this may have been the first single that NIN released off of "The Downward Spiral" album. The album is my favorite NIN album, because there is just so much going on during these songs. A year or two ago I acquired the DVD audio copy of this album, and it is a lot of fun to just sit in a room, and listen to this album in 5.1 Surround Sound. You can really hear all of the different things that are going on during these songs that way. It's incredible. One of the best albums of all time in my opinion. This track, "March of the Pigs," has this really beautiful piano part that is book ended by the raw aggressiveness that we come to expect from a Nine Inch Nails song.....It's done so well though. I've always loved this live video that they put out for it as well. See if you can count how many mics hit the ground. This summer I will see these guys live with my sister-in-law for the first time and I can't wait.

Song of the day........M. Ward with "Headed For A Fall"

I love discovering new music, and recently I came across some material from this 2007 M. Ward album "To Go Home." I started listening to some of his solo material after becoming a fan of his other projects. Everything I've heard is really good rock music with this overlaying Americana feel. It's what intrigues me to Bright Eyes to be honest. It's these really rocking tunes but with this additional feel of some of the great folk song writers of our time. I hear Dylan, Conor Oberst, Jeff Tweedy, and Woody Guthrie when I listen to M. Ward. He has a really cool sound, and I think you will dig it. So, check out "Headed For A Fall."

Song of the day.......AC/DC with "You Shook Me All Night Long"

Just saw today that lead singer of AC/DC, Brian Johnson, says that the band will more than likely be touring this year. Great news after there has been so much concern over Malcolm Young's health. In honor of this great news today I think the song of the day should be an AC/DC number. This one is off of my favorite AC/DC album "Back In Black." This was the first single that they released from that album all the way back in 1980. Check out "You Shook Me All Night Long."

Song of the day......Desmond Dekker with "(Poor Mi) Israelites"

I know I probably should be familiar with Desmond Dekker's music, but I think this is the first time that I've ever heard this. It's pretty good. I typically am not a big fan of Reggae music to be honest, but this has some really cool bass, and guitar riffing going on. It's an interesting song. I kind of dig it.

Song of the day.......Trans-Siberian Orchestra with "Fur Elise"

Today's song is going, way, way, way back to a classic Beethoven composition that was redone by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The orchestra has remade a bunch of Beethoven material for this "Beethoven's Last Night" album, but when it came to "Fur Elise" they didn't change it up a whole lot. I think that's the make of a great song....When a band is doing a cover of it they really don't need to change it up a whole lot because the original is such a classic, and was so well done upon its original creation. So, check out this Beethoven classic, as performed by Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Song of the day............Boyz II Men with "4 Seasons of Loneliness"

I remember listening to a lot of Boyz II Men in the early '90's. Then I started to listen to more and more Rock music, and not as much Pop music. I remember a lot of Boyz II Men's material off of their first two albums, but I'm not familiar with much of their material beyond that. I took a listen to this track today, and it's not bad. Great vocals. I've always really liked the vocals of this group, and I think they were the gold standard of a male vocal group in the '90's. They just had so much great material, and were so talented. Check out "4 Seasons of Loneliness."
